Abstract

“Winning hearts and minds” – behind the scenes. American experiences in operationalization of culture

The following article is a summary of research performed by the Author in American military institutions (among others Command and General Staff School, U.S. Army War College, U.S. CENTCOM in the years 2010‑2013), which aim was to create a comprehensive training and deployment model of operationalization of culture for military operations for the Polish Armed Forces. In this part of research results, American solutions in the field of training, doctrines and operational activity were analyzed, all those that aim at improving operational effectiveness through the integration of socio‑cultural knowledge of the AOO and non‑kinetic military activities.

Doktor nauk o bezpieczeństwie i adiunkt w Instytucie Bezpieczeństwa Państwa Wydziału Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego AON, absolwentka IAiSP WSMiP UJ (2009) oraz AON (2013), obroniła z wyróżnieniem pracę doktorską Operacjonalizacja kultury w przygotowaniu i prowadzeniu współczesnych operacji militarnych. Kieruje trzema projektami związanymi z wykorzystaniem kultury na poziomie taktycznym, kulturami strategicznymi (Ministerstwo Nauki) oraz operacjonalizacją kultury dla potrzeb całościowego systemu bezpieczeństwa militarnego państwa (Narodowe Centrum Nauki). Bierze również udział w międzynarodowych projektach: Coping with Culture prowadzonym przez Bundeswehrę, dotyczącym procesu decyzyjnego w operacjach na Szwedzkiej Akademii Obrony Narodowej oraz działalności International Society of Military Sciences. Prowadziła badania terenowe z zakresu nauk o bezpieczeństwie m.in. w Rezerwacie Indian Lakota Standing Rock (Dakota Południowa, USA, 2008), obozie dla uchodźców palestyńskich Yarmouk (Damaszek, Syria, 2010) oraz U.S. Army War College i U.S. Central Command (Carlisle i Tampa, USA, 2012). Jest autorką licznych artykułów publikowanych w kraju i za granicą poświęconych kulturowym aspektom bezpieczeństwa militarnego.
