O czasopiśmie

Overview

Studia Historyczne is a historical journal published four times a year. In 1958 a group of Kraków historians within the Polish Historical Society decided to publish a local scientific historical periodical. Thus a quarterly Małopolskie Studia Historyczne was called to life, which soon became a vivid platform of historical discussion, exchange of ideas and place of presentation of scholarly achievements mostly for historians from the Kraków, Rzeszów and Kielce regions. In 1967 the periodical was transformed into Studia Historyczne, which were taken over by the Polish Academy of Sciences. Still a quarterly, the periodical became a meaningful voice among Polish historians for many years. After the 1989/90 changes Studia Historyczne were exposed to same problems as all Polish scientific periodicals, in particular those publishing articles in humanities.
Since 2012 Studia Historyczne underwent changes, which were to meet the international publishing criteria and standards. The profile and character of the journal is controlled and reviewed by an international Editorial Board. All articles published undergo a double blind peer review process. The journal is bilingual publishing articles in Polish or in English. The book review section was be significantly enlarged to meet the growing demand for information.
Currently works is undertaken to develop the journal to meet the growing editorial demands of the contemporary, digitalized world of science.
