THE MIGRATION POLICY OF THE AFRICAN UNION IN THE CONTEXT OF INTRACONTINENTAL MIGRATION
The African Union (AU) migration policy plays a crucial role in managing intracontinental migrations, which are significant for the stability and development of the region. The AU promotes regional integration and the free movement of people, helping to identify barriers and opportunities for better regional integration and the protection of human rights. However, the AU faces internal tensions arising from the diverse interests of its member states, and differences in migration policies and priorities among member countries hinder the development of a unified and effective migration strategy. Additionally, the influence of key actors in international politics, significantly impacts the AU’s migration policy, complicating its ability to autonomously shape its policies. The aim of this article is to analyze the framework assumptions of the AU’s migration policy in the context of international relations, striving to create an integrated approach to migration management.
