About the Journal

Overview

Studia Iberica (formerly Studia Iberystyczne) is a peer-reviewed journal on the cultural, linguistic and literary aspects of Spain, Portugal and Latin American countries. It publishes research papers in and on the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Galician and the Creole languages on the basis of Spanish and Portuguese. The disciplines in which it is framed are:

  • literary studies,
  • language and linguistics,
  • cultural studies,
  • glottodidactics,
  • translation studies.

The first issues of the journal are only available in Polish, but from Issue 7 (2008) onwards we publish articles in all Romance languages of the Iberian Peninsula (Catalan, Spanish, Galician and Portuguese), and in English. The articles include the title, abstract and keywords in the language of the article and in English. All research articles go through an evaluation process consisting of external peer reviews. There are always at least two reviewers who evaluate the articles (double-blind review, see in detail the review process).

The journal is published by the Department of Spanish Studies and the Department of Portuguese Studies and Translation Studies within the Institute of Romance Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. It publishes an annual issue containing about twenty articles.

Aims and Scope

We publish original research articles as well as reviews, and the journal aims to propagate and promote research in the world of Iberian studies in a broad sense – European and global. Studia Iberica is a place to present the reflections of researchers and Iberists from different parts of Europe (in particular Central Europe) and can contribute to establish relationships for an in-depth debate on the topics of Iberian studies. Moreover, due to its multilingualism, it is also a means of disseminating knowledge about Iberian culture in other cultural circles.
