Abstract

TRANSLATIONS OF WORKS OF POLISH LITERATURE INTO ARMENIAN FROM THE LATE 19TH CENTURY

The author analyses five selected, lesser-known translations of Polish literature into Armenian that appeared in the last decades of the 19th century. This modest bibliographic contribution confirms that the reception of the works of outstanding Polish writers in this cultural sphere took place entirely through the Russian language. This suggest that despite numerous personal contacts between the Polish and Armenian lands, there were at that time no individuals capable of competently and directly mediating cultural content between the two countries.
