Abstract

The Impact of the Treaty of Lisbon on Integrated Border Management of the European Union
The Treaty of Lisbon started an important stage in the development of the Area of freedom, security and justice. The primary laws distinction of the Union’s competences of shaping the integrated system of border management was one of the changes introduced by TL. At the same time, in the absence of political consensus about the shape of the system, primary law forms it in a concise manner. Treaty provisions in the current version have significant interpretative potential that is used by the EU legislator through secondary legislation. The aim of the article is to analyze the treaty framework of the system and the impact of the current geopolitical situation on its evolution.
