THE MOTIF OF GRATITUDE IN OLD FRENCH ROUND TABLE STORIES
The article explores the motif of gratitude in selected Old French Round Table stories, in particular its origins, variants and correlation with the motifs of gift and quest. The influence of the gratitude motif on the language of the characters (seen as a kind of homo gratus figure), marked by the dialogical nature of the gratitude discourse attributed to them, is also discussed.
