THE CONCEPT OF LIE AND THE DUTY TO TRUTHFULNESS IN MEDICINE
In this paper, I took up the problem of concepts of lie and self-deception, in their relations to the obligation of truthfulness in medicine. Idea of big lie, proposed by Robert Veatch, connects both of these concepts and uses them to define the special deceptive act in medicine. I presented, that Veatch used the concept of lie in too wide sense, and skips very important feature of self-deception, namely extreme subjectivity of this phenomenon. At the end I proposed to transform Veatch’s idea in a way that these concepts were used strictly.
