Dwojaka rola języka mniejszości w traumie historycznej: przypadek mniejszości łemkowskiej w Polsce
Tragiczne wydarzenia zbiorowe mają długoterminowe konsekwencje dla dotkniętych nimi grup. Mają one wpływ nie tylko na bezpośrednie ofiary traumy, ale mogą również wpływać na kolejne pokolenia. W niniejszej analizie zbadaliśmy wpływ używania języka mniejszości na traumę historyczną. W badaniu obejmującym 237 Łemków, członków mniejszości etnicznej, która w Polsce była prześladowana, sprawdziliśmy wpływ dostępności poznawczej traumy historycznej na trzy kategorie objawów związanych z traumą: emocjonalną, behawioralną i depresyjną. Badanie wykazało, że używanie języka mniejszości pozytywnie wpływa na dostępność poznawczą traumy, ale ogranicza też wpływ takiej dostępności na objawy związane z traumą. Opierając się na tym odkryciu, omawiamy potencjał używania języka mniejszości jako antidotum społecznego chroniącego przed negatywnymi psychologicznymi konsekwencjami traumy historycznej.
