CONSERVATION WORKS IN KRAKÓW IN 2019 CO-FINANCED FROM THE RESOURCES OF THE NATIONAL FUND FOR RESTORATION OF KRAKÓW MONUMENTS
The works were based on professional conservation plans and programmes developed since 1990. With around PLN 30 million at disposal, and having acquired comparable funds from the beneficiaries, works were conducted at 64 sites. As far as the sacred complexes go, worth noting are: continuation of works in the Cathedral Church, on the High Altar by Wit Stwosz at Saint Mary’s (start of conservation of the figures from the central scenes), completion of the restoration of the Scala Santa of the Piarist Church, completion of the conservation of the paintings in the nave and advancement of works in the former Abbot’s Palace earmarked for the future museum in the Cistercian complex in Mogiła. What deserves special attention among lay built heritage are the works in the forts of the Kraków Fortress, and among the works initiated thanks to the National Fund, albeit conducted from other budgets, the successive stage of research and restoration of painted decorations of the Spiski Mansion.
