Strategies for describing culture-bound elements in audio description
The article presents the issue of using strategies developed in Translation Studies to describe culture-bound elements in audio description. In the first part, the authors discuss the place of audio description in Translation Studies and especially within the field of audiovisual translation and Jakobson’s categories of intersemiotic, intralingual and interlingual translation. Then research on audio description carried out within the framework of Translation Studies and research on culture-bound referencesin audio description is presented. Finally, the authors present how translation strategies can be applied in audio description of culturebound elements.
