Contemporary Conceptualisations of Translation Activity Proposed by Representatives of French Translation Enterprises
In this article, we examine to what extent the traditional conceptualisation of translation activity, i.e. the interlingual translation, has been enriched recently by elements of intralingual and intersemiotic translation. In the exploratory stage of the study, carried out in the late 2015, interviews with representatives of five French translation enterprises were analysed. The study reveals elements that demand an enlargement of the concept of translation: new transcreation service, audiovisual translation assignments and need for reformulating poorly written texts before translation.
