WHEN A TRANSLATOR WANTS TO SPEAK WITH HIS OWN VOICE: ON THE EXAMPLE OF A POLISH TRANSLATION OF A NOVEL LES PUTES VOILÉES N’IRONT JAMAIS AU PARADIS BY CHAHDORTT DJAVANN
The article analyzes the paratext of the Polish translation of a novel Les putes voilées n’iront jamais au Paradis by Chahdortt Djavann, and particularly the afterword edited by Krzysztof Jarosz, the translator. The author of the article examines the translator’s visibility through paratexts and identifies typical components of such texts. In this context, the afterword in the Polish translation of Djavann seems to be rather unusual, as the translator not only becomes visible but also, beyond introducing Iranian literature and the author’s work, presents his own views.
